The right to write

Reid and Valerie Minish in the Vancouver Scotia Bank 1/2 Marathon.  Both at 1:18:59.  Another Reid - Reid Coolsaet from Hamelton, Ontario finsihed first at 1:03:15.  Reid Collsaet and Eric Gillis both ran in the Vancouver Scotia Bank 1/2 and are both on the Canadain Olympic Marathon Team.  We will see them on TV in London in a couple weeks.   But anyway, congratulations two our two Swan Valleyites who participated along with some 3840 other runners.   There is some up and down on that course (approx. 90 meters over the entire course).  The last hill is a 25 meter grade before going onto the Burrard Street Bridge going into Stanely Park (the finish line).

The right to write is my thing.  Before I allow myself make up a new post for the blog, I must do a run.   Everytime you read a new post on this blog means that I have done a run previous to posting (usually within 4 hours).  So it's fun, a mind game,  I must run to have the "right to write".  Wierd eh?

Today's run was a later in the day run for me.  I prefer to run in the mornings.  But....... sometime we have a schedule adjustment.  It was very hot running.  I stayed in town and did laps in the Legion Park.  Nice long shady spots in there and good asphalt footing.  I got really steamed up in the heat and humidity.  Nice.  I drank lots of water before and imediately after and so no dehydration problems.  It feels so good to be hot.  I wore a cotton t-shirt that weighed 4 times it's weight by the end of the run.  Cotton is rotton I know but anyhow that's what I ran in today.

One of our runners mentioned the heat and humidity too.  Even with a cool post run shower, he was still sweating after he got to work.  That's heat and humidity for you.    But, I like it, it feels good.  I guess because we have so many running days at much colder temps.

Get out there and enjoy.  Run in the heat and soak it up.

Rodeo Run 2012, July 27th at 7:00a.m. at the Arena Parking Lot.
